Forever Home In Need

Brother Billingsley has two dogs that need a forever home. Murphy( on the left of the photo is 4 years old) and Barnes(on the right side of the photo is 6 years old). The family wishes to keep these dogs together as they search for a new home.

Brother and Sisters,  Honor Watch is a longstanding and solemn tradition for line-of-duty deaths in the fire service. At least two other firefighters will remain with the fallen firefighter's body around the clock on "honor watch" in the days leading up to the funeral. Firefighters are always together, and we never leave anyone behind.

Procession Route this evening for Brother Billingsley as he is transported to the Denver Coroners Office:  Leave UC Health University Hospital Ambulance Bay on 17th Avenue to Peoria Street and heading south to 6th Ave.  West on 6th Ave to Quebec St.  North on Quebec St to 8th Ave. West on 8th Ave to Kalamath St.  South on Kalamath Street to 3rd Ave.
Brother Jeff Billingsley

It is with a heavy heart to report that Brother Jeff Billingsley has passed away this afternoon in an apparent Line of Duty Death. Jeff was a Technician assigned to Engine-35 B-shift and was in his 19th year on the job. Jeff just recently turned 42 years old and is a friend to many on our department. He is also one of the founding members of the Denver Fire Fighters Pipes and Drums Band. As this letter is being written, Jeff is surrounded by his crew at University Hospital in Aurora.

Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of retired Deputy Chief Edward Pierre. Deputy Chief Pierre started with the Saint Paul Fire Department on January 02, 1964.  Ed was promoted to Fire Captain on October 16, 1971.  By 1982, Ed had promoted to District Chief and retired in 1989 as Deputy Chief on the B Shift.

Just after 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, SMFR received numerous reports of flames and smoke visible from a tanker truck on southbound I-25 north of Castle Pines Parkway. When local members arrived, they found the rear brake assembly on the tractor engulfed in flames.

At 9:32 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, 911 callers reported a sparking electrical transformer starting brush fire on the southwest corner of Castle Pines Parkway and I-25 in the City of Castle Pines. When local members arrived, they found roughly half an acre of mixed vegetation involved, spreading to the north and south.

Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of retired Firefighter Richard “Dick” Thoemke. Firefighter Thoemke started with the Saint Paul Fire Department on June 16, 1958 and retired in 1983.  He was one of three brothers that were on the Fire Department. Richard passed away on August 27th, 2021, at the age of 88. Richard A.

Just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2021, 911 callers reported that a vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 25 left the highway and flipped over at Castle Pines Parkway. Local members from Engine and Medic 36 were first to arrive, they found the single occupant of the vehicle trapped inside and began medical treatment.

At 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021, Local members responded to a traffic collision involving a structure at 16737 E. Auburn Hills Dr. in Parker. When members arrived, they found a SUV that struck the side of a garage with damage to the structure. One person was treated and transported to the hospital with serious injuries, thankfully no one inside the building was injured.

At 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021, Local members and firefighters from Franktown Fire Protection District responded to a reported structure fire on Arapahoe Court in the Pinery Community within Douglas County. Members from first arriving Engine 43 found heavy smoke coming from the home and identified a fire in the basement.

At 7:02 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, Local members responded to a reported structure fire in the 3600 block of E. Phillips Circle in Centennial. When members arrived, they observed smoke coming from the garage. Members advanced a hose line and quickly controlled a fire in the garage while additional crews searched the interior of the home and confirmed that no fire extended inside.

Joey’s Song was established in 2010 after 4 year old Joseph Gomoll lost his lifelong battle with epilepsy. The IAFF is greatly saddened by the death of IAFF General President Emeritus Alfred K. Whitehead. He was 91. A fire fighter who dedicated his life to the labor movement, Brother Whitehead passed away September 4, Labor Day weekend. “He was a great union leader,” says General President Edward Kelly.
